In the movie "Shaun of the Dead," Ed is Shaun's best friend. Coarse, slovenly, and sometimes rude, Ed isn't the most likeable person. Even Shaun's other friends wonder why he keeps him around, but he's...well...funny? He doesn't have a job and perfers to lay about the house all day playing video games, or going to the pub and getting sloshed. Even when zombies invade their peaceful neighborhood, he still has difficulty setting his priorities straight.

Unfortunately, zombies bite pieces out of him and he dies from loss of blood. But fortunately, not even death and zombification can separate him from Shaun. After the quarantine on their neighborhood is lifted, Shaun finds zombified Ed where he'd left him in a pub cellar, and he lures him back home, locking him up in the garden shed. Over the next couple of months, Ed is trained not to eat him, and they happily continue to play video games together as they have always done. Best friends forever!

Zombie Ed has been tamed and conditioned not to harm people, and so he's relatively harmless, but any physical aggression toward him will most likely result in his reverting to being bitey. He also might stink a little, and drool profusely, and decomposing bits of him might fall off now and then. He is chained up in wrist shackles and a collar for safe and easy handling.
